International Studies and Political Science: What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

ILL Borrowing UPDATE

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) returns to full service for the Spring Semester in support of our faculty, staff and cadets.   We are borrowing both electronic materials and physical items, such as books.

  • Books will be placed in quarantine for a few days upon arrival so expect minor delays in receipt of items.
  • Interlibrary loan items may be returned to the lobby of the library and placed on the book truck marked for return of library items.
  • If you have any questions, please send inquiries to illiad@vmi.edu.

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service offered by Preston Library that allows current VMI faculty, staff and cadets to borrow books, book chapters, articles, reports and other materials from other libraries when they are not available in Preston Library's collection.   ILL accounts have already been created for our users so you will only need to log in at https://illiad.vmi.edu to submit a borrowing request.

Preston Library absorbs any fees charged for providing ILL services so there is no cost to the user and there is no limit to the number of requests you may submit.
