While interlibrary loan will continue to request all electronic format items, we will not accept requests for books and other physical items until cadets have returned to Post.

  • In lieu of an entire book, identify the relevant chapter(s) and we will request scans.
  • Most libraries are not licensed to lend ebooks so it is unlikely that we will be able to obtain them.
  • Please keep any interlibrary loan materials that you may have at this time until further notice.

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service offered by Preston Library that allows current VMI faculty, staff and cadets to borrow books, book chapters, articles, reports and other materials from other libraries when they are not available in Preston Library's collection.   ILL accounts have already been created for our users so you will only need to log in at to submit a borrowing request.

Preston Library absorbs any fees charged for providing ILL services so there is no cost to the user and there is no limit to the number of requests you may submit.
