Spotlight: Samuel Rockenbach Papers

A significant collection documenting the evolution of tank warfare

Brigadier General Samuel Dickerson Rockenbach, (VMI Class of 1889) was notable for his role in the establishment of the U.S. Army Tank Corps during World War I.  His papers contain a rich trove of primary source material documenting the development and use of tanks by the AEF in France.  It includes documents, photographs and early tank design drawings for both American and allied forces tanks.
