Preston Library Prepared for COVID-19

by Maj. Ashley Carroll on 2020-09-01T08:00:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

Access to Preston Library is only limited to the VMI community at this time.  Entry to the building requires swipe card access using the VMI identification card.  Cadets, faculty, and staff are required to wear masks upon entering the Library and in all public areas.

In order to maintain the health and safety of everyone at VMI, we must observe three basic rules: 1) wear face coverings; 2) wash hands with soap and water frequently; and 3) keep social distancing of 6 feet.

Upon entering the Library there is a sanitation station.  Expanded restrooms are located on the newly renovated 5th and 6th floors to encourage frequent hand-washing.  Disinfectants are available to clean table tops, keyboards and other surfaces before use.

Library materials can be checked out at new self-service workstations located in the lobby.  If help is needed, Library staff will be available at the Service Desk.  Plexiglas barriers and social distancing signage are installed to protect our patrons and staff.

When using the stairwell which leads to the 6th and 7th floors, patrons must keep to the right and in single file.  This traffic pattern will assist in maintaining social distancing and make it easier to be on time for class.

Preston Library's staff is here for you!  All you have to do is keep calm and ask a librarian!
