Writing in the sciences involves technical write-ups, like lab reports, primary journal articles and research papers, and literature reviews. Lab reports require a more rigorous adherence to formal writing procedures like the use of passive voice, correct tense (usually past), and careful citation of all researched data. Life and Natural Sciences use APA (American Psychological Association) citation style. Other formats of scientific writing include books, textbooks, conference proceedings, and other types of monographs.
